Pat McDaniels is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and non-denominational pastor with 20 years experience providing counseling services to families, couples, and individuals. She is also a group leader and teacher.
Pat graduated from the University of Akron in psychology, and obtained her Masters degree in social work from The Mandel School at Case Western University in 1998. In 2007 she was granted certification as a licensed pastor through Rose Ministries in Nevada.
Her areas of specialization include parent-teen conflict, couples counseling, senior living, and women's issues. Her personal style tends to be relaxed, directive and infused with humor. Clients have said Pat is very approachable, deeply caring and knowledgeable.
Although she draws from several therapeutic modes, Pat’s primary method is based on the Adlerian belief that all human behavior has a purpose and is goal-oriented, that we strive for connectedness, and that we suffer our emotional difficulties due to feelings of inferiority and not having a sense of community, or belonging. [ Founder: Alfred Adler (1870-1937).] True change and growth results from identifying, exploring, and changing mistaken goals and beliefs. Therapy is seen as a re-education process leading to greater social/relational participation and fewer feelings of inferiority.
Gently woven throughout her interactions with clients is a theme of spiritual awareness and awakening. Pat’s respectful approach embodies her belief that the human psyche is holy ground and that the therapist must ‘take off her shoes’ before entering. Dogma (specific religious beliefs) is replaced with the quiet acknowledgment of a higher power. We are, in fact, just walking each other home…whatever ‘home’ means for you.
